Shanghai South Railway Station (Chinese name 上海南站, Shanghai Nan Zhan) is located in Xuhui District, 9km northwest of the downtown of Shanghai. Operated in 1998 and rebuilt in 2002, this station was reopened on July 01 2006. This station covers 50,000 square metres, and has 6 island platforms, 13 railway tracks. Shanghai South Railway Station combines both ordinary passenger train station (denoted with letter Z/T/K) and high-speed train station(G/D/C series) that serves 97 high-speed trains and bullet trains per day, including Shanghai-Hangzhou Rails.

Departures
Step 1: Get to the entrance of Shanghai South Railway Station by metro, Taxi, Bus or Car 45 minutes before train departure.
Step 2: Go through Security Check and real-name ID check to enter departure Hall by showing passport.
Step 3: Find the Boarding Gate (Ticket Check Gate). The gate No. will be in the confirmation email we send to you.
Step 4: Have a seat near the gate to wait for check-in and boarding. The boarding gate will be opened 20 - 15 minutes prior to the departure time.
Step 5: Ticket check. Please show your passport and confirmation No. to station staff to check in. The boarding gate will be closed 5 minutes before the train departs

Do you need to collect train tickets?
Since Dec 2019, the electronic tickets have been available on most high-speed and bullet train routes from or to Shanghai South Railway Station.
It means international travellers can show their passports, likes Chinese ID to check in and board the train directly, and don't need to collect the printed tickets at ticket office.

Arrivals
