Opened in 1908, old name called Huadu Railway Station and expanded in 2009, Guangzhou North Railway Station (Chinese name 广州北站, Guangzhou Bei Zhan) is located in Huadu District, 34km northeast of Guangzhou downtown. This station covers 23,000 square metres, and has 3 platforms, 8 railway tracks. Guangzhou North Railway Station combines both ordinary passenger train station (denoted with letter Z/T/K) and high-speed train station(G/D/C series) that serves 102 high-speed trains and bullet trains per day, including Guangzhou–Shenzhen intercity rail, Guangzhou–Wuhan High-speed Railway and Guangzhou–Beijing High-speed Railway .
Guangzhou North Railway Station has 4 floors. The entracnce, ticket offices, departures and arrivals of ordinary passenger train are all on 1F. The departures of high-speed train are on 2F. Metro Line 8 station is at west side of Guangzhou North Railway Station.

Metro Line 9
Metro Line 9 was opened on 28 December 2017. Guangzhou North Metro station is located at the west side of Guangzhou North railway station, but due to the construction of the Guangzhou–Qingyuan intercity railway, the metro station is inaccessible from the national rail station. Therefore, passengers need to get off at the preceding station, Huacheng Lu, and walk along the road (around 1km), or take bus 702, or take taxi.
The first metro train is at 06:10 and the last is at 23:10

Taxi
Taxi is one convenient and fast, but also the most expensive way to get to or leave Guangzhou North Railway Station.

Departures
Step 1: Get to Guangzhou North Railway Station by Metro, Taxi, Bus or Car 45 minutes before train departure.
Step 2: Go through Security Check and real-name ID check to enter departure Hall by showing passport.
Step 3: Find the Boarding Gate (Ticket Check Gate). The gate No. will be in the confirmation email we send to you.
Step 4: Have a seat near the gate to wait for check-in and boarding. The boarding gate will be opened 20 - 15 minutes prior to the departure time.
Step 5: Ticket check. Please show your passport and confirmation No. to station staff to check in. The boarding gate will be closed 5 minutes before the train departs

Do you need to collect train tickets?
Since Dec 2019, the electronic tickets have been available on most high-speed and bullet train routes from or to Guangzhou North Railway Station.
It means international travellers can show their passports, likes Chinese ID to check in and board the train directly, and don't need to collect the printed tickets at ticket office.
